Harvard Business School
Harvard University
Together with the Leadership Foundation, the Harvard Business School (HBS) creates a customized curriculum of rigorous training and specialized learning from women leaders. The program is aimed at developing leadership and strategic management capabilities using a unique combination of classroom learning, case discussions, and peer advice. A team of nine HBS faculty will work with the fellows during their five-day stay at HBS. This component requires Fellows to complete reading assignments in advance of their arrival on campus, with additional evening reading, analysis, and review to be completed on-site.
Within the larger objective of improving leadership potential, the HBS program is targeted at improving participants' skills in strategic thinking and implementation in several key areas: negotiations, organizational learning, marketing, global affairs, and the management of innovation and services. The program will also provide participants with the opportunity to develop a personal leadership agenda and to explore ways to implement that agenda by working with HBS faculty, peer advisors and mentors.
A very distinctive part of the Fellows Program at HBS is the Board of Advisors that provides fellows with a “dry run” experience as a CEO with her Board of Directors. Before arriving on campus, each of the fellows prepares a personal action plan, presenting a leadership or managerial challenge they face. This document is shared with the fellows that make up a 5-6 person “Board of Directors”. Each fellow has the opportunity to share her action plan during the course of the program. It is a unique opportunity for the participants to receive the views and unbiased advice of experienced professionals like themselves.
INSEAD – The Business School of the World ®
Complementing the program at the Harvard Business School, the Fellows Program includes a custom-tailored four-day curriculum, Women Leading Global Change, at INSEAD. This training component aims to extend the Fellows' leadership capabilities to include a deeper global perspective. During their time on INSEAD's Fontainebleau campus, the Fellows engage intensively in a dialogue with INSEAD faculty and experts through presentations, group work, and interactive exercises.
A core component of Women Leading Global Change is the 360° Global Executive Leadership Inventory developed by INSEAD's Global Leadership Center (IGLC) that measures twelve dimensions of leadership. The Fellows assess their results with professional, international coaches. The IGLC believes that effective leaders contribute to the creation of sustainable organizations that are great places to work. The goals of the center are to share expertise and best leadership practices on a global scale, and engage in leadership development research.
